Year-End Report 2009 (Improvement Location Permits)

The Plan Commission is in the process of creating its Year End Report for 2009. Over the next several weeks, we will share parts of that report on this weblog. This first installment looks at Improvement Location Permits.

The Plan Commission issued 378 Improvement Loca
tion Permits (ILPs) in 2009. ILPs are required for many types of projects. A few examples are new homes, substantial remodeling, decks, fences, retaining walls, signs, and substantial grade changes.

The month with the most amount ILPs was July (52). The month with the least amount of ILPs was January (9).

Below is a graph showing the number of ILPs issued each month.

The cost for an ILP is determined by the size of the project. Those with an area of less than 350 square feet cost $25. Those with an area of 350 square feet and greater cost $75. Post-construction ILPs (work begins prior to receiving a permit) cost triple the regular amount.
