Training Sessions- January 6 & 27, 2010
The Steuben County Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals will conduct a joint training session. The session will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, following the regular Plan Commission hearing at 7:00pm. The session will be held in the Multi-purpose Room of the Steuben County Community Center, 317 S. Wayne, Angola.
The training session will be led by Jeff Purdy of LSL Planning, Inc. This firm worked with the county to develop the new zoning and subdivision control ordinances which were adopted in August 2008.
Topics include planning and board of zoning appeals basics, non-conforming lots, buildings, and uses, preservation of natural features, and new approaches to zoning. These topics were selected as the most popular in a survey of plan commission and board of zoning appeals members in July.
Serving on a plan commission or board of zoning appeals often requires specialized knowledge of its members. A robust training and continuing education program helps members best serve their communities.
While this session is for the benefit of Steuben County Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals members, it is open to the public. Please contact the Steuben County Plan Commission if you would like attend so we can make arrangements.
The training session will be broadcast live on the web and recorded here.
