Plan Commission Reminder- December 2, 2009


Just a quick reminder that the Steuben County Plan Commission will hold it's December hearing on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. The hearing will be located in the Multi-purpose room of the Community Center, 317 S. Wayne, and will begin at 7pm.

The agenda for the hearing is located earlier in this weblog or on the "Home Page" of the Steuben County GIS.

The hearing will be broadcast live on the internet and recorded for later viewing. (Technical issues may interfere with the broadcast.)

Site Survey Reminder- November 19/20, 2009

The Steuben County Plan Commission will conduct a site survey of the locations with a petition pending before the Plan Commission in December. Site survey will begin at 8am on Thursday, November 19th at the Steuben County Community Center.

Members of the public are welcome to attend, but no evidence may be taken by the Plan Commission.

Board of Zoning Appeals in December. Site survey will begin at 7am on Friday, November 20th at the Steuben County Community Center.

Walden Woods Clean-Up

The Steuben County Plan Commission conducted a clean-up at the Walden Woods Campground on Saturday, November 7. The Walden Woods Community Association and Steuben County Community Service workers also contributed to the project.

Over the weekend, two 20 yard dumpsters were filled.

Staff Training- November 13, 2009

The Steuben County Plan Commission will conduct Staff Training on the morning of Friday, November 13th. The training session will likely last no longer than an hour. (8:00am - 9:00am)

Staff will be available to answer questions and assist the public throughout the day, including during the training session, but it would be appreciated if non-essential requests wait until after the training is complete.

Proposed Wind Ordinance Amendment

The proposed Wind Ordinance Amendment to the Steuben County Zoning Ordinance is now available online.

It is available from the "Home" tab on the Steuben County GIS or by clicking here.

It is also available for review at the Plan Commission Office, 317 S. Wayne, Suite 3L, Angola, IN.

The Steuben County Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed ordinance amendment at their Wednesday, December 2, 2009, hearing.

Plan Commission Results- November 4, 2009


1. (A-09-03) An amendment to the Steuben County Zoning Ordinance concerning wind turbines,
wind energy conversion systems, and wind farms.


The Plan Commission decided to vote on the proposed amendment at the December 2, 2009, Hearing.

2. Review of proposed amendments to the Steuben County Zoning Ordinance regarding: the definition of structures, the definition of basements on sloping lots, additional accessory uses (rain barrels & solar panels), mini/self-storage requirements, & handicapped ramps. No amendment is slated for a vote at this time.

The Plan Commission directed Plan Staff to pursue the proposed amendments and present draft language.

3. Review of proposed amendment to the Steuben County Plan Commission Bylaws concerning a code of ethics. No amendment is slated for a vote at this time.
